For our international client, we are looking for a Checkout Cash Hardware & Operations Engineer to support the operation of cash payment hardware in retail checkout environments. The role combines hands-on hardware expertise with operational process knowledge in stores and POS systems.

Start: 01 Feb 2026 | End: 31 Dec 2026
Workload: 100% until Oct 2026, then 50%
Location: Remote with 20% onsite (Greater Düsseldorf area)
Remote role with onsite components (store visits, hardware workshops, field insights)
Languages: German and English
Completed degree (computer science, engineering)

Unbedingt erforderlich:

Hands-On Hardware Expertise
•Hands-on work with cash payment hardware: opening devices, identifying components, cleaning, calibrating, and analyzing root causes
•Strong understanding of wear parts, failure scenarios, and recurring malfunction patterns
•Execution of minor hardware upgrades and definition of related best practices
•Analysis of error trends and derivation of concrete hardware improvement measures

Operational Excellence & Store Alignment
•Alignment with Store Operations on roles, processes, and simple self-service vs. escalation solutions
•Definition of best practices and clear task ownership for service providers
•Assessment of how store behavior and maintenance impact hardware performance and costs

Stakeholder & Partner Management
•Technical sparring with hardware manufacturers across the full hardware lifecycle
•Close collaboration with service providers and facility partners
•Development of actionable recommendations for strategic hardware optimizations
